Review: The Midnight Lie

Title: The Midnight Lie
Author: Marie Rutkoski
Narrator: Justine Eyre
Audio Length: 9hr 27min
Rating: 4/5
Synopsis (Found on Goodreads):
Where Nirrim lives, crime abounds, a harsh tribunal rules, and societys pleasures are
reserved for the High Kith. Life in the Ward is grim and punishing. People of her low status
are forbidden from sampling sweets or wearing colors. You either follow the rules, or pay a
tithe and suffer the consequences.

Thoughts:
A little confusing but that could be I haven`t read the original trilogy. Niirim is something special
with a photographic memory of sorts. She has the potential to grow but for now her naivety is
what drove me crazy. What she believes makes a mother or family is thrown into chaos when the
realities of her actions come to fruition.

This story does have some steamy romance but it's well written. The world building and caste rules
made this hard to pause. I'm hoping to pick up the trilogy and see more in this world.

TTFN,

Ashley
