Book Expo 2018 Wrap-Up

To say I was excited for BEA is an understatement, but I was also nervous. BEA was
100% new experience for me all the way around. I flew for the first time, was in New York
for the first time and it was the first time I was around so many authors and people who
enjoy books as much as I do.

Heading in to BEA I was extremely excited to meet some author’s in particular, Katherine
Locke, Mackenzi Lee, Kendare Blake, Laini Taylor and Leigh Bardugo just to name a few.
Fortunately I was able to meet all of the above and many more except for Leigh Bardugo.  
Day One of BEA was more of a relaxed day for us figuring out the layout and finding
locations for booths the next day and I got to meet some fellow bookstagrammers that
Ashley had met during her previous years at expo. The first author I got to meet was
Kendare Blake for her book Three Dark Crowns, which the 3 of us cosplayed the sisters
for halloween last year.

Friday on the other hand was a bit overwhelming, we had a lot of places to be throughout the
day and I had two authors I was dying to meet. Katherine Locke and Mackenzi Lee. I was
able to meet Katherine first and get a copy of The Spy with the Red Balloon and talk horse
with her for a little while. Later in the day I was able to meet Mackenzi Lee and give her our
copy of Gentlemen’s Guide that I defaced. So nerve wracking, but she loved it! While waiting
for her, Ashley and I also got to meet Stephanie Garber.

When we were not at expo we explored NYC and had some great food, went to a broadway
show; which was fantastic, as well as adventure Central Park a little bit. The entire trip was a
blast but my favorite part was meeting so many authors whose books I have loved. I can’t
wait to tackle our haul from Expo and share my thoughts on them with all of you.

I cannot wait for Expo next year and the memories and books it will bring.

Book Expo 2018 Wrap-Up: Michaela

The journey to Book Expo was an adventure involving my first plane ride,

my first major trip (meaning leaving the comfort of my mountains) and

experiencing the city life. I was extremely nervous and excited for this

adventure as Ashley has always brought home wonderful stories from

BEA and I am glad I was able to be a part of it this year. Thankfully we

started making our plans way in advance which helped avoid any chaos

for Kenz and I’s first trip to the big city.

So we started this adventure by exploring many sweet treat places after we picked up our BEA badges (which was very surreal) , all the treats were delish, then we prepared to the early morning of BEA Day 1, after we got

to the convention center we started it off right like any bookish girls we got Butterbeer frappes and then we were off, Kenz and I headed over to signings to wait for Kendare Blake, the first author for our day. It was so cool to meet her since the three of us cosplayed as the three queens for

Halloween last year and we all loved the books. I also met Natalie C. Parker who was also at her first BEA with Seafire, I look forward to that read! I also picked up Grace and Fury by Tracy Banghart and Light Years by Kass Morgan

via galley drops and look forward to reading those too.

Friday was the big day! Our busiest day that's for sure. We all had 3 authors we

wanted to see (it was rock, paper, scissors for who was seeing who). That list

contained Laini Taylor, Kerri Maniscalco and Katherine Locke. I went to Kerri

Maniscalco with Escaping from Houdini, I absolutely ate up Stalking Jack the

Ripper and Hunting Prince Dracula and thoroughly enjoyed them and #Cressworth.

Ash went to the lovely Laini Taylor for Muse of Nightmares, I still got to meet

Laini though on the floor of BEA which was a hoot! Kenz met Katherine Locke,

so each was a win win. I also met A.C. Gaughen for book two of Reign the Earth

(Imprison the Sky), I read Reign the Earth in like three days. I also met Courtney

Summers for her book Sadie, I haven’t read anything by her yet but look forward

to it. I managed to get a copy of The Bird and the Blade by Megan Bannen

thanks to Owlcrate and some lovely ladies trading with me.

Overall BEA was incredible, granted I still am not a fan of large groups of people

but I survived, I met some fellow book lovers and picked up a few of my anticipated

reads for the year. Cannot wait to see what 2019 BEA brings.

Book Expo 2018 Wrap-Up

This was my 4th year attending the expo and over the years there has been some great memories made. This year however ranks one of my favorites.

Not only did I attend and see some amazing authors but I got to bring my sisters/ co-bloggers with me. Getting to take a back seat and just observe them enjoying themselves was incredible. There was plenty for me to do but just taking photos and listening to them gush nonstop made every mile walking worth it.

I`m excited to start planning next years trip whether it be Chicago or NYC again. There are some non expo things I`d like to take the girls to see just so they can get the full NYC experience.

We were able to see Anastasia at Broadhurst Theatre, eat crazy rainbow bagels and order pizza for delivery at midnight. All things we can`t do at home.
